A Historical Repeat on a Galactic Scale | Part 3: Hope
The first part of this three part series began with setting the stage for the largest land grab known to mankind now and in the future. The press is working itself and the world into a frenzy over the audacity and egomania of Musk, Bezos and Branson. There are many others that are not as famous and flamboyant as these three. Personally, I think it’s about time entrepreneurs started to drive the exploration of space. At least with these folk the risks they take are calculated and without bureaucratic ideals, beliefs, and operational meltdowns from fearful country leaders.
Let’s be honest, the group, whether National, entrepreneurial or quasi-governmental that gets there first owns the gateway! We also have to talk about the spoilers, like countries shooting off anti-satellite missiles to weaponize space debris, or eliminating satellites from spying on a military buildup on another country’s border.
Weaponizing space debris is real and is known as the Kessler Syndrome. The Kessler Syndrome theorizes that a cascading series of collisions occurring in space has the potential to close down space travel and satellite traffic. Catastrophically all weather data, communications, and the internet would cease to exist. The world will be with no ingress to or egress from space for decades. This could result in a limited land grab where economies are consolidated with an ensuing collapse of the global society. This will be the time we wish for a cataclysmic global flood of biblical proportions! I guess all’s fair in love and war!
The alternative of this is that we focus on the big picture and I do mean BIG picture. If you have read Asimov’s, The Foundation you’ll know what I mean. The magnificence of competition, creative thinking and action. This will be another platinium age for entrepreneurs with heart, minds and souls! A time when nations will seek to grab the first foothold through which we all must pass in order to stake our claim on a planetary system. Notice I did not say stake you claim for forty acres like in the Oklahoma land rush. The impact will be the same, pushing indignious beings from their tribal homes and lands made sacred by the burial of their ancestors over time. What we will witness in this land rush, if history repeats itself, will be nothing more than the conquest followed by the slaughtering of all indigenous beings. What a bloody shame that will be, so much to teach us and share and make us all rich as beings of integrity and trust lost to the cosmos forever binding human kind to wander in the wilderness for another forty years!
Sorry, I was reminiscing the stories of another life working with indignious beings. What I am trying in vain to say is that all the major countries are positioning themselves for the Big Grab. There are three things everyone wants: to control the competitor nations, claim the sweet spot, and gain the military upper hand for the sole purpose of enforcing their will. Whoever gets all three, controls the gateway to the biggest land grab known to mankind up to this point in history. Contrary to the frenzy of positioning at this point, I think there is one more attribute to add to the mix to get it right. I think whoever gets the first gateway will get the first gateway. It will have the first to market advantages, however, due to the large number of competitors and what’s at stake, the ability to control Earth, there will eventually be other gateways to the galaxies. My money is on the entrepreneurs to win this competition. They are the only ones in the group that understand how to live with risk. The key to getting it right is to learn from our warmups of land grabbing and work and join with the indigenous beings to form a unified front. This takes a long term strategy, but then again you have all the time in the universe (space time continuum).
